It is July and the music is already in the air of Verona. The much awaited music festival is at the doorstep and there is a huge crowd flocking this city. Music enthusiasts from across the world are here to feel the beats in the thumping of their heart. But what attracts me to this land is something else. Life became so busy post our wedding that me and my husband did not get quality time to spend with each other. I was slightly unhappy about it. So, it was quite elating when my husband planned this trip.
The first time I came to this city, the calming breeze of Lake Garda stole my heart; just when I stepped in there, first word that came out of my mouth was “heaven”. And then it was the Windsurfing Championship which I just could not ignore. This is a world level contest held here every year; and the excitement on the faces of these participants was worth seeing. They were all gazing at the water, with brightness in their eyes.
I had to capture those moments in my camera; I have a passion for clicking the various human emotions. As the competition began, I saw numerous boards making their way to the water body. Although, I too am quite fascinated with water sports, however I do get intimidated at times, knowing the strength of water; but these people seemed fearless and ready for the adventure as if they had been waiting for it since I don’t know when.
There were hooting, there were falls and they rose up again. The crowd around seemed to be highly energized and their voices rang in the surroundings. The stunning view of ever popular Monte Baldo in cable car took my breath away.
Sitting at one of the local cafés, I spent a romantic evening with my partner in the perfect ambiance; a candle lighted table, exotic Italian food and succulent wine. That night left an unforgettable imprint on my life.
We began our dinner with Grana Padona Cheese cream. One dish that stood out of all for me was, the hearty Risotto all’amarone and the delicate swordfish encrusted in sesame seeds. There was no reason why we should not have gone for a boat ride. So there we were sailing in boats under the starlit sky, my husband had arranged for Ancilla Laguna white wine and red roses? It was mesmerizing; a perfect expression of love. We also visited the lemon house museum.
Romance in the land of Romeo and Juliet is not surprising news; now I too know why it all developed in this place. The charm of this city makes you fall in love, and that can be for anything and everything.
Our stay was pre-booked in a Charming Accommodation, so we moved to our sleeping destination after mid-night. The next morning, I woke up early to explore the city; its numerous hidden treasures, the popular shopping alleys and rich flavors. Verona is a land where you can find everything under one roof; whether it is history and literature; or good food and adventure.
