Millions of people travel all across the world thus there are many airlines flying to different destinations. These airlines have restrictions on what to carry on their flights as determined by the Transportation Offices of countries and cities. Here are items that can be brought in flights and those that are never permitted.
Travelers bring with them liquids on their flights. They can be carried as long as they are packed in a certain way or as specified by the proper authorities in the airport. Gels and liquids should be in containers that do not exceed 3 ounces. They should also fit in clear plastic bags that have the size of 1 quart. Bigger containers should be placed inside checked baggage. They shall be confiscated if they are placed inside carry-on baggage.
Small electronic devices that include an MP3 player can be carried on the plane as long as it does not have lithium batteries. Spare lithium batteries cannot be placed inside checked baggage. Those that are placed in a carry-on baggage have to be secured utilizing adhesive or electrical tape or in their original packaging. Each battery can also be placed in separate plastic bags. You should carefully pack electronic devices so that they would not be switched with other devices during the flight.
Bringing of food and drinks in the plane is allowed as long as they are within the regulations imposed. Beverages are included on policies regarding liquids. They should therefore not be more than 3 ounces. Exceptions to this rule are medicines, infant formula or bottled breast milk. They should be declared prior to check-in at the office handling security checks for inspection.
The food must be checked by the scanning machine thus they should be wrapped carefully or placed in a container to avoid being thrown around and causing a mess. Fruits that are not yet peeled do not have to be wrapped except for those that are half-eaten.
Disabled or sick passengers can bring with them items they may need inside the plane such as crutches as long as they are scanned at the security counter. They can also bring prescription and over-the-counter medicines in liquid, gel or aerosol forms. They are permitted to carry with them aboard the plane water, liquid nutrition or juice if required. If they contain more than 3 ounces, they should be declared at the security staff. Disability items must be scanned separately from luggage.
There are items that are strictly forbidden to be brought inside the airplane as they would pose a threat or danger to the passengers and the aircraft itself. These include the following:
- Explosive such as fireworks, guns, grenades, paint and paint thinners, flammable lighters, compressed or tear gas, chlorine and flare guns with flares;
- Tools such as knives, scissors with a surface more than four inches, manual and carpentry tools with a surface that cuts such as screwdrivers with a surface bigger than seven inches;
- And sporting goods such as arrows, bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks, pool cues and spear guns.
Before travelling, it is better to be aware of what to bring and what to avoid so as to avoid problems and hassles at the airport.
