Tenerife is a beautiful island with yearlong sunshine and a host of things to see and do. If you have never visited the island before and are looking for some ideas of where to stay, take a look at some suggestions below to find some inspiration.
Playa de Las Americas
Definitely the most popular resort on the island, and with lively clubs, bars, restaurants and beaches on your doorstep, why would you want to go anywhere else? There are hundreds of great hotels from 5-star luxury to budget apartments and accommodation more suited for families. Compare hotels in Tenerife online to get the best idea of what is available.
Puerto de la Cruz
For a quieter and closer view into traditional Canarian life, then check out Puerto de la Cruz on the north side of the island. Although this is the biggest resort in the area, this former fishing village has retained plenty of its Canarian charm and offers a host of things to see and do. In this area you will find more luxurious and charismatic hotels on offer, and with such attractions like the Museo Arqueologico and Loro Parque, Tenerife’s biggest and best Zoo, there will be no rest for the wicked.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Heading to the northeastern tip of the island, is the capital city, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which offers a more urban view of the island. There are a host of bars, restaurants, museums and art galleries as well as the shopping complex, El Corte Ingles, which Lonely Planet on Tenerife describes as ‘monster sized’. Just 20 minutes out of the city is Playa Las Teresitas, which is highly regarded as one of the best beaches on the island.
Wherever you decide to stay, this majestic island has something for everyone. If you want to party, staying in Playa de Las Americas and the surrounding areas is the best option. However, if you want a more chilled-out and historical holiday then head to the north of the Island for a more intimate view into Canarian life.
