Halloween is a true North American tradition. People dress up in scary costumes and walk down the streets either to party on play “Trick or Treat” on people who stay home. That being said, Halloween is always a fun night, possibly the funniest in the entire year. If you happen to be in New York City that day, here are some cool things you can do.
Village Halloween Parade
The Village parade is a genuine tradition in NYC; it is in fact the largest public Halloween celebration in the US. It goes all the way up 6th avenue, from the intersection with spring street, and goes north until 23rd street. Anyone in costume can join these hundreds of puppets, 53 music bands, artists and dancers. Walk down the street with thousands of locals in their crazy homemade costumesdesigned for this incredible night. Over 2 million people attend this yearly event, and 1 million watch in on TV. The parade has been part of NYC Halloween tradition for 38 years now, and anyone is welcome to be part of it, as dancers, music performers or else, creativity is the only motto to be remembered.
NYC Halloween haunted house
Not for Faint-hearted. People under 18 are not admitted. This is the kind of haunted house you will not forget. You will have to go through the entire thing on your own and yes you will have to face some scary things. Presented by the Vortex Theater Company this will be an intense and tremendous experience!
NYC Halloween bars & club parties
Halloween is a perfect occasion to party and put aside your regular life. Meet your boss in the craziest costume ever; it doesn’t matter because tonight, it’s Halloween! There are many parties going on that night, no matter on what day it this this year, everyone is going out on the 31st on October. This year it will be on a Monday, but it will be okay.
Nightmare at the Dream Hotel
This is one of the hottest Halloween parties in NYC! It is divided in three levels, including the Chrystal Room and penthouse Ava Lounge, which gives you a magnificent view of NYC, and features an open bar from 9pm to 10:30pm. This is the kind of party that lasts all night long with some of NYC’s best DJs spinning hip hop, house, rock, etc.
Halloween at Hudson Terrace
“Party like a Rock Star” that’s the dress code the Hudson Terrace has set up to the 2011 Halloween party. The Horror on the Hudson at Pier 92 welcomes people from 9:30 p.m to 4a.m for a night you will not forget. On this glamorous Halloween celebrity event you will have complete access to the open bar, live Halloween performances and goodies on this red carpet venue which is the center of nightlife during Halloween weekend.
