The Secrets That Nobody Tells You
Traveling, a word that dates back to the beginning of mankind. A lot have changed in the characteristics of traveling along the ages. At first, traveling was used for survival reasons. Then it was something that provided a livi.ng to people. After that people created events, for example, the Olympics in Ancient Greece and therefore traveling was necessary and also rich families many times visited a nation for pleasure. However now almost everyone, whatever their financial status or their origin, travel for pleasure, entertainment, relaxation and knowledge. Nevertheless traveling always had secrets. Secrets that someone acquired over time or from another person. These secrets are many but I am going to share with you what I have learned during my journeys and I hope that you will find them useful and instructive.
The first so-called secret starts before the actual vacation begin and it is called ‘’finding your destinations’’. Most people just call out names of places that they want to go but there is a way to minimise your cost and time. The solution is very simple and it is called a map. Before any decision that I have ever taken when it comes to traveling I had a look at the map of the certain area. That area might be Europe, Asia, America, a single country or even a city. When looking at a map it is easy to spot routes that connect places easier than others and therefore you can travel faster, most of the times cheaper and more efficiently time wise.
Then when you have chosen the where, you can begin searching for the how. The how means tickets and accommodation. The easiest way to find cheap tickets or tickets that suit your requirements is to search for sites like seat61.com. These sites help you find the best way of going somewhere without too much hustle end expenditures. After booking your tickets comes the word accommodation. There are hundreds of websites that offer accommodation packages like booking.com with great deals. This is the easiest way of booking your accommodation but there are other ways that may be cheaper, such as, contacting the place directly, airline-holiday packages with flights and last minute deals. I like all the methods but the airline-holiday packages are something worth discussing.
Airline-holiday packages are one of the most famous ways for booking your holidays. It is the most convenient way because the airline takes care of almost everything and most of the times it is very cheap. However, there are some disadvantages and I am only going to stress one, the most significant one. When booking a package it usually means that all the other businesses in a certain area are affected. Let us say that you book an all-inclusive package with your family for two weeks in Mexico. This means that you will receive a low quality service, meals and holidays and sometimes you will not even realise it. Also, you will be all day long in the hotel complex and you will only get out for a tour, or a walk, or for sightseeing or for many other reasons that do not include profit for everyone in the area. Someone can say ‘’ what do I care, I am just having cheap and exclusive holidays ‘’, but if you think about it you destroy every business in the area. In my opinion booking a half-board package is a lot better because you are able to have a meal or a drink somewhere else without thinking that you are overpaying or you could eat for free in your hotel. Thus, the next time that you are thinking about booking a holiday package, think twice.
The secrets of the actual traveling experience begin with the commuting part of the journey. I always like to stay in places close to train stations or major bus stops. The reason is that I can access any part of the area I am staying in easier. This is the case because train stations or major bus stops link a whole area and therefore it is easy for you to commute. However public transport is not my favourite way of commuting. My favourite and in my opinion the best way is walking. Some say that walking is unnecessary but if you are on a budget or if you want to see the hidden parts of a certain place walking is for you. I am that kind of person and that is why I prefer to walk and plus I always save money.
Another part of your journey that it is very important to stress out is the dining and sightseeing. Most people while traveling tend to go with the flow. But there is a major downside. The fact that people miss the best part of traveling. The best part is when you walk in a little street and accidentally finding a magnificent sight or when you visit the outskirts of a city and you suddenly see the moat amazing view that you have ever seen. Now when it comes to the dining part you should always have a reminder in your head. Ask yourself ‘’ is this place very touristy, will I overpay for an average meal, does it worth the time?’’. All these questions will lead you to the right place for you. It does not matter if someone tells you about the best restaurant on the planet, what matters is, if the place is the right one for you.
Finally, the last detail is the tours that you take. One day I was walking to the old market square in Krakow. Suddenly I saw a yellow flag with the word ‘’free’’. I was curious what it meant and what was it about and I accidentally found a free walking tour. I have never heard about free walking tours but I participated just for the experience and guess what, it was the best tour that I have ever had. After Krakow I always participated in free walking tours around Europe. Free walking tours provide the chance of learning to everyone without a price limit. You can just participate and pay whatever you believe they deserve and if you believe that the tour guides are not qualified to, believe me, you are wrong and plus they want to offer something valuable to you in order to get paid.
Traveling is life and life is short’’ this is what I like to say to everyone. Traveling is something that we all share no matter where we come from or whatever religion we have and that is why we have to enjoy it fully. I hope this article was somehow instructive and valuable to you and that you will remember my advice while traveling.
