Waterfalls are one of Mother Nature’s more aesthetically appealing features; some people might even call them awe-inspiring. Although they are incredibly beautiful, they can also be highly dangerous if you get too close – slipping on wet rocks and falling is a possibility.
Before visiting some of the best waterfalls America has to offer, you’ll want to prepare for any accidents that might occur by purchasing travel insurance, which would protect you if you suffer from a sudden injury or other medical emergency while exploring these breathtaking landmarks.

Niagara Falls
While any waterfall is sure to delight, in the United States, there are three that you should consider including in your future travel plans:
-
Niagara Falls
You can’t really create a list of America’s best waterfalls without including the most famous of them all: Niagara Falls. Although it may be a more obvious example, it’s obvious for a reason. The magical, mystical beauty of the falls inspires and enlightens all who view the thunderous streams of water and entrancing mists that are characteristic of this famous landmark. The waterfall lies right on the border between Canada and the U.S. in northern New York, and tumbles over the strait that connects Lake Erie with Lake Ontario. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a boat ride at the base of the waterfall – and wear a rain slicker.
-
McWay Falls
Across the country, McWay Falls in Big Sur, Calif., is a milder kind of waterfall – but no less magnificent in its vibrant turquoise splendor. The waterfall stands an incredible 80 feet tall, which brilliantly frames the sunny blue sky ever-present in central California. You can sit by the picturesque Pacific Ocean and enjoy your own tropical paradise without ever having to leave the U.S. White sand, massive rock formations and lush plant life all make this scene a Zen-like oasis to help you escape from the world for a little while.
-
Bridalveil Fall
Just a little further east from McWay Falls is Yosemite National Park’s legendary Bridalveil Fall. Like many other waterfalls in Yosemite Valley, Bridalveil Fall is a result of hanging cliffs that remained after glaciers carved out the valley. The waterfall drops a staggering 620 feet from an imposing granite cliff, where the water flows gracefully down the rock’s “face,” which was the inspiration for the name of this waterfall. Although this waterfall is one of the most breathtaking in the entire park, Yosemite is home to several other waterfalls that each have their own unique beauty.
Despite the relative simplicity of waterfalls, these elegant works of natural art have an emotional appeal and a surreal type of beauty that captivates viewers from all across the country and even across the globe. What makes them even more fascinating is that waterfalls are so beautiful, yet are often a result of some sort of destruction.
If you’re looking for more inspiration in your everyday life or just want to relax among truly unspoiled surroundings, these three waterfalls will allow you to discover an intimate and powerful part of the natural world.
