Winter weather may bring dreams of holiday cheer to some, but for many it ushers in imaginings of a warm beach with absolutely no snow. Whether you’re planning for a getaway this winter or for a vacation this summer, don’t settle for any old beach. Head to only the best beaches North America has to offer.
Barefoot Beach State Preserve, Florida
Famed for its miles of coastlines, Florida is arguably the best place to go beach hunting. While the Atlantic is very nice, nothing beats the beauty of the Gulf of Mexico. Barefoot Beach is situated on 342 acres and features the softest, whitest sand the state has to offer. In addition, the blue water of the Gulf is very calm in this region, rarely measuring more than a few inches. Be sure to catch the world-famous sunset views here.
Hamoa Beach, Hawaii
The sister state to Florida in regards to coastline and warm weather, Hawaii is home to stunningly blue water and even more spectacular flora. Hamoa is only accessible by way of the Road to Hana. Those that brave the winding turns and one-way bridges will be rewarded with a spectacular beach situated in a volcanic crater. Its sand is coral and lava, and the shore is lined by flowers and palm trees.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
If excitement and a vibrant tourist culture is what you’re looking for, head no further than the Spring Break capital of the east coast. There are a variety of getaway options offered through Myrtle Beach Resorts for vacationers of all kinds. Whether you’re traveling with your family or looking for a romantic coastal escape, Myrtle Beach has something to offer. Lined with miles of beachfront shopping and eating, those that love people watching will love taking in everything this beach has to offer.
Long Beach, British Columbia
A perfect collection of everything the Pacific has to offer, this National Park Reserve has something for everyone. It has 16.6 km of white, sandy beaches, wildlife and a backdrop of mountains. The best part is catching a glimpse of the 20,000 grey whales that migrate through its waters every year.
Acapulco, Mexico
Who can forget the “Pearl of the Pacific”? Visited by such stars as Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra, it is slowly undergoing a revival, pulling in many Mexican and European vacationers. Unlike Cancún, Acapulco still has claim to a worldly charm found at few other beaches.
North America is the perfect place for any beach goer. From rocky Pacific shorelines to miles of white sandy beaches, there are even spots where you can watch the sunrise, drive for a bit and watch the sunset on another shore.
