Lake Annecy – Rhone Alps
If you’re looking for some French mountain scenery then head for Lake Annecy situated in the south east of France.
This lake, with its clean, crystal clear waters originating from the mountain streams of the Rhone Alps is a fantastic place to swim during the summer but the water turns pretty cold by September. The deep and long lake with attractive inland beaches offers spectacular views of the Alps, so ensure you take your camera for some literally breathtaking photos.
The town of Annecy, which is situated at the northern end of the lake, is a beautiful historic town with bizarre houses at the edge of the water. The streets and canals are lined with pretty flowers and ice cream vendors wherever you turn.
La Serraz campsite
Doussard is a small village and home to the campsite La Serraz, which has everything you’ll ever want on a camping holiday in France. Doussard and the La Serraz campsite are situated a few minutes from the town of Annecy, from where you can enjoy the surrounding forests and mountains.
Other attractive sights include the 70 metre deep Gorges du Fier, which is extremely impressive. Doussard has a theme park and many golf courses to really add a little more to your French camping holiday.
