Many have said that vacationing is never going to be the same as it was pre-children, for instance, what we needed pre-children traveling was a book, a margarita, a mobile computer, and perhaps a bikini. However, many parents have agreed that traveling with kids isn’t something that they do just because they want it, rather a gift that they give to their children.
But believe me, it is possible to put our vacation back into an interesting and enjoyable family travel, and never let us feel like never should have left home kind of feeling.
Through experience, it boils down to a simple matter of changing our expectations, as well as some careful planning in picking the right place, reserve the right room, and plan the right diversions.
One important thing that I would like to stress is our traveling pace, for example it is good to plan the activity carefully, if not your children will likely feel tired and cranky. That means, don’t try to plan to do a lot, and is advisable to plan one activity in the morning and one in the afternoon, and find time to go back to the hotel for a nap in between, if possible.
Another thing of help is to take into consideration our children’s needs and concerns, i.e. make them feel the family travel trip is part of their experience. By doing so, the children know that they have something of their choice, on the other hand as a parent, you will rarely have problems where your children feel they are being dragged to those interesting museums, galleries, and places of interest in those fantastic historical sites, and so on.
I personally feel that with a little bit of careful planning, we should end up more rested than we think is possible.
Cheers for able to travel with our beloved ones!
