With fantastic beaches, year-round sunshine and its twenty-four hour party atmosphere, Playa de Las Americas in Tenerife is a great place for backpackers or young travellers. Whether you’ve just left college or are holidaying with a big group of friends, you’ll find plenty to do – all at a price that won’t break the bank.
During the day you can take advantage of the various soft, sandy beaches to sunbathe and relax, or, if you want to explore the area, head off inland to banana plantations or go for a hike and experience the spectacular views – ideal if you want to live the true backpacker life. However, if you love the water, then try windsurfing, scuba diving or screaming on the banana boat as you bounce over the waves on the warm, clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A visit to a water park is also a must, as not only do you get the thrill of the slides, it’s also a great way to keep cool while soaking up some of that constant sunshine!
There is always a huge range of varied cuisine on offer in Playa de Las Americas. There are many great restaurants open all through the day and many stay open late. For those who have worked up an appetite from all the partying there are plenty of late night delicacies available to ensure that the serious reveler never goes hungry! The nightlife is vibrant; from cabaret to karaoke, head to The Patch, Veronicas or Starco and there will be a vast array of entertainment to suit all tastes. Many of the areas are pedestrianised, well populated and well policed so it’s a very safe environment for partygoers of all ages.
Prices across the whole of Tenerife are really reasonable and cater for every pocket – for those on a limited budget, through to some top class establishments that you may want to consider for that special night out. Tenerife, only four hours flying time away, is well served by budget airlines and holiday companies, so packages are very competitively priced and there is an enormous choice of decent hotels, hostels and apartments to choose from in Playa de las Americas.
So, with endless sunshine, warm waters and a full-on nightlife, it’s no wonder that Tenerife is still one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe.
