While Asia seems to be one of the toughest destinations for first time travelers, it is still one of the most attractive destinations. The first time I traveled to Asia I traveled by using my Asia Air Miles which got me an economical air ticket, but on the plane I heard a few myths about Asia. Below are those myths debunked so no worries you can enjoy you Asia travel.
Myth One – You need to learn the language before you visit.
The Truth – You don’t need to learn the language before you visits Asia, you will find many people in Asia who speak English and particularly in tourist areas you will find many people who speak good English language. While if you learn a few phrases in the local language can be beneficial for you as it can get you a few smiles and even get you better prices for certain things, studying before traveling to Asia is not a necessity.
Myth Two – Don’t eat the street food, it’s not safe.
The Truth – Street food in Asia is delicious, cheap, convenient, and a little dangerous but is a fun cultural experience as you come to know about the traditional and local cuisines. In fact, if you eat from a street cart in Asia it is more beneficial for you as you get to know the cooks personal hygiene and also get to use the utensils he is cooking in. Because eating at a restaurant in Asia is equally risky than eating at a food cart because you never know what kind of unhygienic conditions are lurking behind the kitchen curtains of a restaurant. The best way to judge street food is by seeing that in front of which place there is a long queue of customers, the longer the queue is the better food the serve.
Myth Three – Traveling in Asia is risky and dangerous.
The Truth – No matter where you travel in the world if you plan to stroll out at 4 a.m. in the morning, then that is a self-invitation for someone to come and rob you off, so if you don’t do this in your own city then don’t even do it abroad. Apart from this don’t show off your valuables, try to keep them secure and safe, don’t carry all the cash with you every time you go out. Pro travelers suggest that while traveling to Asia carry a fake wallet just to trick the thief.
Myth Four – Traveling to Asia is very expensive!
The Truth – Many Americans think traveling to Asia is a long tour but is expensive, this is highly unlikely. Why?Because there are so many websites through which one can catch good deals on flights. Once you land at your destination you get the currency changed and the money change rate gives you an instant boost on spending. Then it depends what kind of luxuries you want and can be fit for your budget. Backpackers spend $20 in places like Bangkok for food, accommodation, entertainment and drinks.
Myth Five – You need to take an Asia travel tour.
The Truth – Many people travel Asia by joining a tour agency or a tour group who book all your accommodations for different places stay and arranges all the different tours to the famous tourist attractions. So if you are thinking that you should book your tour before leaving for Asia then it’s not correct. You can also book Asia tour once you have landed at your destination as there are many local tourist agencies that will be more than glad to help you and give you a better tour of their country.
