This winter, forget the staycation and head to a destination that will really invoke the envy of your friends, family, and coworkers. Whether you’re in need of sun, snow or the spa, these four destinations will truly make your friends jealous.
Vail, Colorado
This domestic destination has international appeal. Vail offers world-class skiing and snowboarding as well as a multitude of other activities. Look for a Vail vacation home rental with summit views and luxury features like a gourmet kitchen. If downhill sports aren’t quite your thing, take in a show at the Vail Performing Arts Center or indulge in a Mountain Spice Body Indulgence at the Rockresorts Spa at the Arrabelle. Either way, you’ll be hungry for bison rib-eye steak or grilled Colorado trout, both available at the Four Seasons’ Flame.
Cairns, Australia
Swap winter for summer and go down under with a trip to Cairns, Australia. This seaside city is considered to be the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, but is a cosmopolitan destination in its own right. Plan at least one day trip to snorkel or scuba dive in the reef; and spend the rest of your time exploring the surrounding area. Try the Kuranda Skyrail for a scenic rainforest flyover or ride horseback through the Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest.
Bora Bora, Tahiti
Say “Maeva” to Tahiti for an exotic winter escape. Book an over-water bungalow at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort and get ready to relax on your private terrace with a jacuzzi. Have a light lunch of sushi and sake before heading out on an excursion to swim with the stingrays. Looking for true serenity? Indulge with a Balinese Massage or Illumination Pearl Facial at the Miri Miri Spa.
Swiss Alps
If you have your passport at the ready and you’re looking for an impressive ski vacation, plan a trip to the Swiss Alps. Fly in to Zurich and then hop a train to Davos, the largest ski resort in Switzerland. Enjoy a beer or an educational class at the highest brewery in Europe at Bier Vision Monstein. When you’re ready to hit the snow, head out for skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in a scenic setting.
The dark days of winter don’t have to leave you feeling blue. Plan a vacation to one of these four winter destinations to raise your spirits and leave your friends green with envy.
