Constantly sunny weather, pristine nature with breathtaking landscapes and abundance of flora and fauna! In such places, you forget about all worries and the only feelings you experience are tranquility, inspiration and a strong desire to enjoy every second spent with the one you love.
What are the best ingredients of a perfect romantic vacation? Privacy, serenity, exotica, adventure or perhaps beautiful sunsets? Langkawi can offer them all and even more!
Calm romantic beaches
In Langkawi, there are many different beaches that can fit every taste! If you prefer to have a rest away from prying eyes, you can go on exploring the northern part of the island. Since there is almost no public transport in Langkawi, you’ll need to either to take a taxi or to rent a car.
Located on the very north part of Langkawi far away from popular tourist places, the Tanjung Rhu is the most beautiful beach on the island. It has pleasant soft sand and is surrounded with the centuries-old limestone caves and cliffs, mangrove forests and a few tiny picturesque islands.
The Tanjung Rhu is considered the calmest beach in Langkawi. Here are no crowds of visitors even during the high season. But you’ll need to pay for an opportunity to relax here, because the beach belongs to the two resorts called Four Season and Tanjung Rhu Resort.
Another option for loving couples is to visit the Pantai Tengah. It’s a nice 700 meters long white sandy beach with a calm and tranquil atmosphere. The Pantai Tengah perfectly suits the needs of families with children as well as all couples looking for a romantic spot. Along the beach, there aren’t many bars and hotels and as a result less people to bother your rest.
Beautiful natural landmarks
For those who prefer a more energetic vacation, it’s recommended to find an accommodation next to the Pantai Cenang being considered the most developed beach on the island. In fact, it’s located right next to the Pantai Tengah, but it’s completely different and designed more for companies of friends looking for opportunities of active relaxation.
At the Pantai Cenang, there are the most popular restaurants and bars, spa-centers, nightclubs and hotels for every wallet! When visiting Pantai Cenang, you’ll be able to taste freshly caught seafood and enjoy all kinds of dishes of Korean, Chinese, Japanese or European cuisine.
At the Pantai Beach, you’ll find numerous tour operators offering various types of activity from the standard ones such as riding jet skies or parasailing to more exciting boat trips to the nearest islands, tours to the numerous waterfalls, kayaking to mangroves, exploring rainforest wild nightlife etc.
Of particular interest is a tour to Dayang Island, where a famous Lake of the Pregnant Maiden is located. The lake has got such unusual name thanks to a legend telling that lake waters can cure female infertility. Women just need to take a dip in the lake or to drink its water (it’s a freshwater lake).
Another natural attraction you should pay attention to is Temurun – a beautiful waterfall in the north-west of the island. In fact, it’s the tallest waterfall in Langkawi and has a height of 30 meters. The spot is very picturesque.
Just imagine that you’ll be surrounded with the tall trees with the thick crowns protecting you against hot sunbeams. A narrow winding path consisting of the wet stones covered with moss leads you to the very bottom of the waterfall. There you can a take a dip in the crystal clear water and watch little yellow leaves falling from above like some fabulous butterflies floating from the sky.
The most fabulous sunsets
The best place to admire beautiful sunsets in Langkawi is the Sky Bridge connecting two peaks of the Machinchang Mountain at the height of about 700 meters.
The bridge was built in 2005 and has interesting curved shape allowing visitors to watch surrounding scenery from different angles. At the opposite ends of the construction, there are small triangular observation desk where you can take a break after crossing a little bit scary and dizzy bridge.
The whole construction is literally hanging on a single metal pylon with the help of eight cables. That’s why the whole bridge can slightly sway in strong wind. In fact, if the weather is too bad, the Sky Bridge is usually closed.
You can reach the Sky Bridge by a steep cable car connecting the Machinchang Mountain and the Oriental Village. The cable car has a total length of 2.2 km and one middle station located at the height of 650 meters at the foot of the Machinchang. The whole trip to the very top of the mountain takes about 20 minutes.
If you want to make a little present to your better half you can hire a private gondola. For instance, if you choose a usual gondola, you’ll be surrounded with four other tourists, that doesn’t create a romantic atmosphere. Want to make this little journey a little bit more exciting and memorable? Then you should choose another type of gondolas with the transparent bottoms.
Do you want to surprise your loved one right upon arriving at the Langkawi Airport? You have a good chance to surround your soul mate with comfort by renting a car. Your personal rental vehicle is the best way to explore the whole island and visit the most secluded beaches hidden from prying eyes. Take care of booking a car in advance to be able to reserve the exactly car you want.
